Improving domestic hot water production at La Quiete hotel and restaurant

The refurbishment project at La Quiete hotel and restaurant followed a technical consultation by Lovato focused on improving the efficiency and innovation of the domestic hot water (DHW) system. By integrating storage, solar thermal energy and T-Fast instantaneous production, the new system ensures continuity of service and high performance.

When a hotel operates with occupied guest rooms and a busy commercial kitchen, domestic hot water (DHW) production becomes a crucial factor for both guest comfort and day-to-day operations.

At La Quiete hotel and restaurant, in Potenza, the refurbishment project was not simply about replacing an existing system, but about completely rethinking the DHW installation and overcoming the limitations of a traditional solution based on boilers and hot water cylinders.

The installation context

The facility is characterised by an intensive and concentrated DHW demand:

• 25 rooms, all supplied with domestic hot water;
• Commercial kitchen with 10 sinks;
• Simultaneous demand and peak consumption at specific times of day.

The previous system, based on traditional boilers and hot water cylinders, showed clear limitations in managing variable loads and resulted in losses associated with prolonged hot water storage.

The Lovato solution

The refurbishment involved a complete redesign of the DHW production system, bringing together different energy sources in a coordinated way.

Installed configuration:

• 2 x 57 kW boilers;
• 2 x 1,500-litre buffer tanks, supplied by the boilers and a solar thermal system;
• 2 x T-Fast IE80 systems for instantaneous domestic hot water production.

The T-Fast systems were installed downstream of the storage system to provide fast, continuous and reliable DHW production for both the guest rooms and the kitchen, even when demand is high and simultaneous.

The role of T-Fast technology

T-Fast technology moves away from the traditional approach of storing large volumes of DHW, focusing instead on instantaneous production only when needed.

In a facility such as La Quiete, this approach makes it possible to:

• respond quickly to peaks in demand;
• maintain a stable and controlled temperature;
• reduce energy losses;
• maximise the benefits of integrating storage and solar thermal energy.

The result is a system that is more efficient, more responsive and easier to manage.
