In the case of radiant panel systems where the fluid is heated by cast iron or wood-fired boilers. The presence of impurities could damage or cause malfunctions in the underfloor or wall-mounted circuit.
In the case of systems with old plastic pipes, where oxygen diffusion could occur and potentially damage the boiler.
In the case of domestic hot water production via a storage tank.
